If there is one wedding planning task couples consistently underestimate, it's gathering guest addresses.

Why You Should Start Early
Your guest list affects nearly every piece of wedding stationery. From save the dates to invitations, rehearsal dinner invitations, and thank you cards. Waiting until you're ready to mail invitations often creates unnecessary stress and can delay your timeline.
We recommend beginning your address list as soon as you begin building your guest list, even if your wedding is many months away.

For each household, you'll want to gather:
First and last name(s)
Preferred titles (Mr., Mrs., Ms., Dr., etc., if applicable)
Street address
Apartment or unit number
City
State
ZIP code
Country (for international guests)
Email address (optional, but helpful for wedding websites or updates)
Phone number (optional)
Having everything in one organized document makes it much easier when it's time to order your invitations.
Keep Household Names Together
Instead of listing each guest individually, organize your spreadsheet by household whenever possible.
For example:

Rather than creating separate entries for each person living at the same address, grouping them together keeps your mailing list cleaner and prevents duplicate envelopes.
Double-Check Every Address
Before sending your list to your stationer or placing a print order, take a few minutes to verify each address.
Look for:
Missing apartment numbers
Misspelled street names
Incorrect ZIP codes
Guests who may have recently moved
A few minutes of proofreading can save you from returned invitations and extra postage later.

Even after your invitations have been mailed, your address list continues to be useful.
